Snow, Steam and Sand

I...just dunno what I've done here. I started drawing completely without any aim or idea just to scribble a bit. Then I liked the expression and facial structure and went forth. It is rare, that I work without detailed sketches (or no sketch at all) and without outlines. Well, dunno if that technique is better or not. The complete drawing was done with PTSai, the sand I added with Gimp later.

However, if you ask yourself: Who the f**k is that grim looking kittycat? It's my old OC (and former fursona, now a more independent char) Sal'Ahir Blake. He underwent a complete rework like Gehenna did. He should look much more grown up and more serious now. He's still a snow leopard crossbreed with extremely big and pointed ears for such a cat. And he finally has a background:
He's part of the northern catfolk nomads called Irbidian. His folk wanders long routes organized in clans from the rock wastes of Aliira to the desert An'Shuul, crossing cities like Draas Din, the Arcana City, or Hjevengard, the Northern Bastion, and through the Gate of Brass, a high rift overarching steam fortress, that connects the rock waists and the desert through the Grimsaw Mountains.
His clan's called Zin'Aben, what means "copper-born" and is related to their crafting and forging traditions. Blake learned archanomechanics and animal lore, but works as a freelance headhunter.
He rides his mount Ridlay, most would call a "dust lizard". In fact, "dust lizards" are Rockwyvern, relatives of the dragon races, but wing- and breathless. Male Rockwyvern have a sharp sting at their tail and are able to poison prey with it. They're pretty common in Aliira, but only few nomads really ride them because of their bitchy temper and greed for food. Well, and a real dragon rider would laugh about the idea riding them at all, even denying their relation with dragons. "They deny the truth... until Rid dashes faster than they believed at 'em, rams his thorn in their scalesack mount and eats their face. Easy as that", Blake would say.
Blake and Gehenna live in the same world. Gehenna belongs to the desert race called Fennekren.
